The new hockey club, which began 2 years at Palm Beach State College, has already set their goals to make it to national next year.

Coach Tony Parziale said, “We won’t make the playoff this year. It’s only our second year; the players are learning to play together. It takes a little while to build a program, and the team played much better this year than last year, and we don’t want to lose any game also we will try to make it to national next year.”

On November 15 the Panthers Hockey lost to FAU Owlsey the Owl, 5-4 at the Palm Beach Ice Rock. FAU was leading the game all of the three periods and the points were 2-1, 3-2, and 5-2. The year has been rough for the players, so far it’s been 8 wins and 12 losses out of 24 games scheduled this year and early spring of 2014.

Palm Beach State Hockey player Alex Routhier, #3, defense, said, “Our goals were to beat FAU that night. We were ready for FAU, we knew that they were coming hard, because last year we beat them 5-3 but, we collapsed in the locker room–too much arguments. So, basically we defeated ourselves, we could have beat FAU easily.”

Palm Beach State has nine more games before the end of the season.  Their last 2 home games are the 23rd, and 24th of January 2014.
